Kubernetes
Kubernetes (K8s) schedules containers on a cluster, restarts them when they fail, scales them and routes traffic to them. You declare the desired state in YAML and its controllers make the cluster match it. Managed versions include Amazon EKS.
Key concepts #
- Pod: the smallest unit, one or more containers sharing network and storage.
- Deployment and Service: keep replicas running and give them a stable address. See NodePort.
- Ingress: HTTP routing into the cluster, for example with Traefik.
- kubectl: the command line client of the API server.
- Helm and Argo CD: package and deliver applications. See Helm and Argo CD.
