AWS
AWS (Amazon Web Services) offers compute, storage, networking, databases and many more services in regions around the world. You can create everything by hand in the console, with the AWS CLI, or as code with Terraform and OpenTofu.
Key concepts #
- Account and region: the boundary for billing, access and resources.
- IAM: users, roles and policies that control who can do what.
- VPC: the private network where EC2 and RDS run.
- S3: object storage, also used for the Terraform state backend.
- aws provider: the provider that manages AWS resources.
