Redis

· 1 min read · Data and Storage · Tool

Redis keeps data in memory, which gives sub-millisecond reads and writes. It is used for caching, sessions, queues and rate limiting. On AWS it is offered as a managed service by Amazon ElastiCache.

Key concepts #

  • Key-value store with strings, lists, sets, hashes and streams.
  • Persistence: optional snapshots and append-only logs.
  • Often run as a container in Docker Compose.

Learn it #

See it running in the Docker Compose tutorial.
