Git records every change of a project as a commit. Infrastructure as code lives in Git, so changes are reviewed, versioned and can be rolled back. Platforms such as GitHub host the repositories and run pipelines with GitHub Actions.

Key concepts #

  • Commit: a snapshot with a message.
  • Branch and merge: parallel lines of work.
  • Remote: a copy of the repository on a server.
  • GitOps: Git as the source of truth, as in Argo CD.
