GitHub Actions runs build, test and deploy jobs on hosted or self-hosted runners. For AWS it can authenticate with OIDC, so no long-lived keys are stored.

Key concepts #

  • Workflow: a YAML file in .github/workflows.
  • Job and step: units of work on a runner.
  • Action: a reusable step.
