DigitalOcean is a cloud for small and medium projects, with a short list of services and simple pricing. Its virtual machines are called Droplets. It also offers VPC networks, cloud firewalls, Spaces object storage, managed databases and Kubernetes (DOKS).

Key concepts #

  • Droplet: a virtual machine, created from an image and a size.
  • Cloud firewall: filters traffic outside the Droplet, attached by ID or by tag.
  • Spaces: S3-compatible object storage.
  • digitalocean provider: the provider for DigitalOcean. Authenticate it with an API token.
