**Oracle Cloud Infrastructure** (OCI) is the public cloud of Oracle. It offers compute instances, virtual cloud networks, Object Storage, databases and a managed Kubernetes service (OKE). Resources are organized in **compartments** and identified by long identifiers called OCIDs.

### Key concepts

- **Compartment**: a logical container for resources, used for access control and cost tracking. The tenancy is the root compartment.
- **VCN**: the virtual cloud network, equivalent to an [AWS VPC](https://www.itwonderlab.com/aws-vpc/).
- **oci provider**: the [provider](https://www.itwonderlab.com/terraform-provider/) for Oracle Cloud, with API key, security token and instance principal authentication.
